ABOUT US

Issues That Cannot be Taught in School

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to destigmatizing mental health issues. With the resources we created, we want to promote good mental health in you and your friends. However, it doesn't stop there. At The Mind Initiative, we understand that parents play a critical role in the mental health of their child so we've included a section for them too.

But why mental health? Well, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), "half of all mental illnesses begin by the age of 14 and three-quarters by mid-20s". It's time someone addressed this mental health epidemic going on around the world and not just through words but through action.

Legitimize. Destigmatize. Personalize. These three words are the three steps to addressing mental health. First, legitimize mental health disorders as serious illnesses that are as important as physical disorders. Second, destigmatize it. Make it so that those who seek help are praised for their courage instead of shamed. Finally, personalize. Everyone has a different mental health journey and it's important to note that methods that work for one may not work for all. By personalizing treatment, we can better address the issues that are being faced.
